Artist Statement
Works on paper is the best way to describe my forty-plus years of art making. My concepts relate to invented stories where I mix abstract visual metaphors with representational figures and objects. While I enjoy drawing from life, most of my work consists of collages, drawings from life, drawings from photographic references, and my imagination. My recent 2025 work is deeply aligned with the joy of playing with ideas and drawing on top of unique prints created by mixing woodcut with monotype. The patterns that I carve into wood are combined with the painterly process of monotype. This creates visual playgrounds to share my visual interpretations of artistic styles and visions of ‘well-known’ artists within the history of art.
Works from the ‘Visions’ series are currently on view at the Woodwalk Gallery in Egg Harbor, WI, and in Ephraim at the Hardy Gallery’s “Collections Invitational” on view until August 24th.
